Trey Pridgen, PGA
Head Golf Professional
“The most important shot in golf, is the next one”. – Ben Hogan
Since about the age of 3, Trey has had a golf club in his hands. Trey and his dad, who also loved golf, would play golf every chance they got. He was a part of his high school golf team, had the privilege of being a member of the 2012 All-Marine Golf Team while serving in the US Marine Corps, and when he has “down time” enjoys either playing or watching golf. In 2021, after leaving the Marine Corps and working in the oilfield for several years, he felt the pull to pursue his life-long dream of being in the golf industry.
He began his golf career here at Yoakum County Golf Club, under the management of former head pro, Brett Boynton, in 2021. Trey’s experience includes getting the opportunity to work at 2 great West Texas country clubs before accepting the Head Golf Professional position here at YCGC in 2025. Trey has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Arts in Management from Dallas Baptist University. Trey’s love of golf extends far beyond his game on the course. He enjoys teaching and leading junior golf programs and introducing the younger generations to the game he’s loved his whole life.
Jay Sears
Assistant Golf Professional
“Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated.” – Arnold Palmer
Jay grew up in Wasilla, Alaska, and spent his summers in Nebraska with his dad, where he played baseball. At the age of six, he was introduced to golf, which became a beloved activity he shared with his father over the years. Throughout his early years and high school, Jay was involved in competitive hockey and baseball. During his first year of college, he worked in golf course maintenance, reigniting his passion for the game. After gaining experience as a Retail Manager, Correctional Officer, and a hockey/baseball coach, Jay decided to pursue a career in the golf industry.
In his free time, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, as well as playing and watching golf. He holds an Associate of Science in Business Administration-Sport Management from Columbia Southern University and is set to graduate with his bachelor’s degree this year. Jay is excited about the opportunity to help grow the game of golf through the junior golf programs at YCGC, while continuing to develop his skills and share his knowledge with golfers of all levels
